A war worth fighting
Uniting as individuals to make a change for a greener future
In today's world, it seems we're stuck in a battle between the natural ecosystem and our current financial models. Case in point: BP's recent financial report, declared a record profit of $28 billion for 2022 without accounting for environmental damage caused. This infuriated climate activists as the company scaled back on plans to cut oil and gas output and reduce carbon emissions by 2030. While companies continue to report high profits, the environmental impact of their activities is often left out of the equation. Why is this the case? And what can we, as individuals, do to make a difference?
The war at hand
Our planet's ecosystem is suffering from the consequences of a financial system that prioritises profit above all else. With no voice or political influence, nature bears the brunt of this unprovoked war. As shareholders of planet Earth, the power to change lies within us, but how do we make an impact.
The role of companies
Companies have started integrating sustainable development goals (SDGs) and environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) models into their operations. However, a disconnect still exists between profit and sustainability. Only when businesses prioritise the environment in their decision-making will we see true change.
Individuals hold the power
PFP believes that individuals have the power to make a difference. By engaging with brands, politicians, employers, and other stakeholders, we can demand change and make a positive impact on our planet.
Action steps for individuals:
  • As a consumer, demand brands prioritise nature in their operations
  • As a voter, support candidates who advocate for renewable energy and reject fossil fuels
  • As an employee, encourage business leaders to take immediate action to protect the planet
  • As a business owner, require suppliers to demonstrate their green credentials
  • As a shareholder, hold executives accountable for meeting ESG goals
  • As a politician, listen to the people and take action to address their concerns
The battle for a greener future is ongoing, but the power to make a change lies within us. By taking action as individuals, we can contribute to a more sustainable world and support our planet's natural ecosystem. It's time to unite and fight for a cause that truly matters.
