One ecosystem, one overall solution

One ecosystem, one overall solution
We must adopt a total system approach that does not focus simply on the headline issues of the day
Recent headlines have focused on the UK's new net zero strategy, announced on March 30th. While the plan highlights the need to transition away from fossil fuels, it falls short in terms of providing a comprehensive approach to sustainability. Instead, it invests heavily in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology, which some experts argue has yet to prove its large-scale effectiveness.
The war at hand
Our planet's ecosystem is suffering from the consequences of a financial system that prioritises profit above all else. With no voice or political influence, nature bears the brunt of this unprovoked war. As shareholders of planet Earth, the power to change lies within us, but how do we make an impact.
Individuals hold the power
A few notable reactions to the strategy:
  • Dr. Peter Connor, Associate Professor of Sustainable Energy Policy at the University of Exeter, expresses concerns about the £20 billion commitment to CCS, citing its limited impact on reducing atmospheric carbon.
  • Josh Burke, Senior Policy Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, laments the absence of a long-term investment plan for greener solutions.
  • Matthew Paterson, Professor of International and Climate Change Politics at the University of Manchester, critiques the plan's inadequate focus on retrofitting the UK's inefficient homes.
  • Christophe Williams, CEO of Naked Energy, calls for increased awareness and support for existing clean technologies that could help businesses and communities save money while reducing environmental impact.
Naturally we agree!
These aren’t the reasons, however, that make us assert that the document and the UK government are missing the point, as damning as they are.
Th 6R Approach
At PFP, we believe in a "6 R" approach to address global environmental challenges, with "regrowth" as the ultimate goal. By focusing on reducing waste and re-engineering processes in line with ESG goals, we can have a newly defined type of growth and make a positive impact on our planet and future generations.

PFP News
As we continue to develop our power from waste platform to fulfil our global commitment to creating energy from non-recyclable waste, we are also creating our network of collaborative partners to work with us to support our clients to re-engineer their entire process in line with their ESG goals.
We're delighted to announce a new partnership with Rafinex, found at www.rafinex.com Specialising in advanced numerical models for engineering applications, Rafinex will work alongside PFP and our clients to reduce waste and develop sustainable solutions designs across various industries.
Rafinex' innovative cloud SaaS product Möbius embeds the latest breakthroughs in stochastic optimisation mathematics. It is able to compute highly optimised and reliably trustworthy product designs that remain safe in real-life variable operating conditions in a matter of hours - making sustainable designs both scalable and profitable at the same time. Rafinex enables companies to substantially save on material usage for creating products, as well as on the subsequent energy required to use or operate these products.
As we continue to connect businesses and communities with the best technology partners for power-from-waste projects, our mission is to reduce the strain on our planet caused by the pursuit of financial growth at any cost. Together, we can build a sustainable future.
